(Note:
This procedure is almost identical to the W-2 update procedure. Only the file name is different. This update has been tested with all OSAS
version 5.2 and higher.)

(or upper left File, then Print) to print the contents of these pages for

Have
a blank, formatted floppy disk and label the disk: OSAS AP 1099 UPDATE 2001 and
write today's date on the disk. Put the disk in your A: drive.
When
you click on the link below you will get a File Download window on the
screen. This download is not protected by a password. There should be a bullet next to Save this
program to disk. Go ahead and click <OK> to save the file.
Set the Save In Location to the A: drive and keep the file name APTEN99.
Click here to start the download of the AP 1099 program
update file.
Exit
out of the internet and return back to Windows.
The
program file you saved is a self-extracting zip archive file. The program
update file contains several files all compressed into one. Having a
compressed file speeds-up the download, and makes it easier than having to
download over a dozen individual files. It also contains a couple of
subdirectories for those files.
To
expand the archive file, you must do the following:
|
|
Select
the Windows Start menu by clicking on Start on your task bar (usually found
in the lower left). |
|
|
Select
Run ... |
|
|
For
the Open line, enter the command: A:\APTEN99 -D
and click OK to run the command. It is very important that you use the
filename, a space, a dash, and the letter D (as in Dog). The D option
tells the program to include the subdirectories as it expands the
archive. A MSDOS window will open showing the expanding files.
When it is Finished, you may close the window. |

The
disk is now an installable disk that can be used with Open Systems Resource
Manager. Continue to the next step. |
only
need to install the disk in one company. Program installations
automatically effect ALL companies. It doesn't matter which company you
are in when you do it, but only do it once.
With
the disk created above, go into Open Systems, Resource Manager, System File
Maintenance, Directories. Make sure that the Install directory at the top
has A:/. If it doesn't, then change the directory to A:/. Use
<PgDn> to save your change.
Make
sure your disk with the program update is in the A: drive.
From
your OSAS main menu, once again go to Resource Manager, and choose Installation
> Install Applications. The installation program will read the disk
and prompt you with a few Re-install questions. The answers should
already be all set to YES. At this point <PgDn> to proceed with the
update.
The
system will copy the program files off of the floppy to your program folder and
then prompt you: Install Another Application? Accept N by pressing
the <enter> key, and the system will proceed with the final steps of
installation.
In
the final steps, the system will expand more files from the installation disk
and merge some files into your OSAS system files. When the install is
complete, the main menu will appear.
If
you get an error during the installation, the most likely cause is that you did
not use the correct RUN command when you expanded the file. Go back and
try to expand the file again, saying Yes to overwriting any existing files.
You
can run the new AP 1099 program. It
will have the new format of two forms per page instead of the previous three
forms per page. If you use a laser
printer, you may want to consult the information on our support page concerning
the configuration of laser printers.
